Gold ORP probes work very well in saltwater pools. This is because gold has catalytic properties different from traditional platinum ORP probes and exhibits different sensitivities to certain redox reactions. It is also reported that gold ORP probes work better in highly reducing water, such as “produced water” from oil wells, which typically has a negate (or reducing) ORP of -200mv or more.
Gold ORP probes are slightly more expensive than platinum ORP probes because binding gold to glass is more difficult and requires more energy.
Each probe comes with its own unique 12-digit serial number for tracking and traceability.
